The
Better
Move

The Better Move is a European Union co-funded initiative bringing together three partner organisations with a mission to bring culturally rooted dance programming into nightlife, increase work opportunities for professional dancers, and improve access for club dance communities.
Throughout 2026, we organised six roundtables and 27 club programmings in Berlin and Amsterdam, with the aim of testing the ground, matchmaking professional dancers with nightlife stakeholders, and exploring in depth the potential of the nighttime economy to create new work opportunities for dancers. The findings and insights gathered through these activities informed the development of The Better Move Guide and self assessment tool The Better Move Index, designed to help more dancers take on this mission and build meaningful connections between professional dance and nightlife.

We created this self-assessment tool based on findings from the roundtables and residencies of The Better Move project. It is designed to help dancers reflect on their skills, interests, and readiness to explore new work opportunities within nightlife.
The outcome of the self-assessment is intended as a guide rather than a definitive assessment. The questions themselves are an important part of the process: they are designed to prompt you to think about your strengths, areas for development, and the different ways your skills and experience could translate into new opportunities in nightlife.
